Keeping one ship at the center
Helm & Salvo is a single-player naval game in development. You handle a warship yourself, adjusting your course to the range and incoming fire before deciding where to aim and when to shoot. Escorts take part in the fighting, while your own ship remains the focus.
Expeditions are being designed around that ship. The aim is to give you time to learn how it turns and fires, with choices between battles shaping the rest of the voyage. The details are still being built and tested.
What comes first
The current focus is ship handling and gunnery. How does a turn change the range? Where did a salvo land, and what should you adjust next time? The feedback needs to be clear enough for you to make decisions from what you see.
The game uses a fictional setting with World War II-era technology. It is being developed for Windows, with a Steam release planned. There is no public download or demo at present, and the release date has not been announced.
This note describes the current direction. The interface, art and gameplay details may change. Future notes will show how these decisions play out when suitable gameplay footage is ready to share. Back to the Helm & Salvo page.
